After lying low for so many days, we made up for our week of inactivity today.  And then some.

My girlies are home.  They had a blast at Grammy’s, of course.  Further, I heard from quite a reliable source that not one cross word, nasty look, or “accidental” kick happened between the two sisters over the 3+ days.  Now that I know it’s actually physically possible, I’m expecting great things.

My father-in-law received his Christmas present today.  Well, he received the info for it this past Christmas, but today was the day of his flight on a T6.  (In case you’re wondering, here’s a picture of one, though not the one we saw today).  The entire family gathered at the Racine airport to witness this occasion.  I’d call the event a success:  in looking through hubby’s pictures, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Grampa happier.

And then.  THEN… after the flight, I did a quick SuperWoman-like change in the airport restroom (ok, maybe not quite that cool, but you know what I mean).  While the rest of the family — hubby’s sisters, their husbands, kids, etc. — went to dinner, I headed into downtown Milwaukee to see Wicked.  What a gem!  While I rarely get the opportunity to go to the theatre, I cannot imagine any minute of that performance being any better.  And the writing of that script!  Oh, what talent and imagination!!  If you haven’t seen it, you should.  Or even just read it.  I know I’m definitely going to track down a copy of the book this week.

Well, with hubby and I both on the mend, I’m hoping our health and wellness up-swing proves to be a good omen for the week.  Be sure to click back here in the coming days to see if, in fact, that’s the case.

Surviving a Century

May 26, 2010

On Friday, May 21, my maternal grandfather turned 100 years old.  My mom, his only surviving child, organized a birthday party for him, and nearly all of our family was able to attend.  My mother’s organizational powers are second to none, and the party was a great success. Usually, when I think of a “successful” [...]
