Silly Bandz Craze

Have you heard of these things?  I had seen Silly Bandz in passing at Wal-Mart a couple of times, but until this week I didn’t realize they were the equivalent of gold bars in elementary school.

Claire has been hinting around about getting some of these for days, but she has really stepped up her campaign in the past 36 hours.  Really, I think ad agencies should consider keeping a representative sample of third- through sixth-graders on their payroll.  They could meet with the youngsters once a month or so, pay them in pizza (and their parents, in free gas cards), and everyone would be happy.  The creative things my girls come up with blow my mind – I’m pretty sure that for every crappy or crazy idea the kids panel would come up with, they’d match it one-for-one with something out-of-this-world cool or creative.

So when I decide to open my own ad agency, I’ll be sure to contact all you parents to see if your kids will work for pizza.  Or Silly Bandz.

So today, I caved.  But not before I developed a plan.  Presenting (drumroll, please!):  the Be-Good-or-Lose-Your-Silly-Bandz-Faster-than-You-Can-Poke-Your-Sister Plan.

While I’m sure I could turn this experiment into a Master’s Thesis for some off-shore university, I’ll just update whatever findings/results here.
