Ready for Summer

May 31, 2010

After the best start to the summer (Memorial Day weekend) we could ever ask for, the abc* Family is back home and wrapping up loose ends to start another week.

Amy, Claire, and Kate

In addition to recovering from a fantastic neighborhood party and a day on my dear sister-in-law’s beautiful yacht, we are – deep breath here – preparing to say our last goodbyes to Hubby’s bike.

1998 Honda ACE Shadow Tourer

Hubby kindly gave me one final ride on Sunday.  With a great friend watching all 3 of my girls for a couple of hours, I enjoyed the freedom of just being a passenger while watching the scenery go by, one last time.

Hard to believe tomorrow is the first day of JUNE!  Although, it’s a good thing, really, as Amy asked me yesterday:   “Mama, can you please turn it to summer now?”  Oh, how glorious to think she believes that I have that kind of power.

And how disappointed she’s going to be as she slowly figures out that I don’t.

Pain

May 28, 2010

I have this ongoing pain in my life, in my family’s life, that never goes away.   Before I launch into this topic, I want to make a couple of things very clear.  First, I am fully cognizant that what I’m about to describe is not unique.  Second, I know there are plenty of pains [...]

Reinventing the Clean-up Routine

May 27, 2010

Tonight, as the kids and I were undertaking yet another decluttering project (read:  putting away all the toys and throwing out all the completed school work no longer needed), I had an epiphany.  As you know, I have three girls.  Each of them is extremely clear on what items belong to which child.  They can [...]
