I recently got the privilege to work once more with the wonderful people over at Elmer’s.  In case you missed my earlier projects with Elmer’s, check out my Tri-Fold Display Board ProjectFlower Garden, and read all about Elmer’s Virtual Bag It Forward Projects here and here.

Have you heard about the Elmer’s Painters Paint Markers yet?  They are SOOOO cool!  I honestly don’t think there is a surface they can’t be used on:  glass, wood, paper, plastic – they go on EVERYTHING.  And, in true Elmer’s fashion, they’re easy to work with, reasonably priced, and excellent quality!

You can buy Elmer’s Painters Paint Markers at Walmart.  The markers are 100% acrylic paint that goes on opaque, and they have a super-fast drying time.  For those of you who scrapbook and journal, they are acid-free.

In addition to coming in packs of 5, they are sold separately.  If you need only one or two markers – or if you’re lusting after every color in the rainbow (like me) – you are covered!  The single Painters Markers are only $1.97 each, and there really is a wide range of colors.  They come in fine tip, medium tip, and chisel tip, AND they’re made in the USA.

Decorating Flower Pots

I have several gifts to make this spring, so I thought a quick and easy DIY craft project would be to decorate some flower pots.  The Painters Markers made this completely pain-free, and I had a blast doing it!

I picked up some inexpensive plastic pots at my local home improvement store, and dug out some stencils from a project I did a few years back.

Elmer's Painters Markers and My "Blank Canvas"

My first attempt had the paint beading up a little, but I fixed that pretty quickly by first spraying the plastic pot with my trusty squirt bottle of vinegar and then wiping it dry.  After that, the Painters Markers went on smooth-as-silk!

After stenciling two of the three pots, I got the urge to free-hand one of them.  Again, the Elmer’s Painters Markers were just like drawing with a pen on a sheet of paper – easy with a wonderful result.

Honestly, the results you can get with Elmer’s Painters Markers are impressive and exceedingly easy to achieve.  You don’t have to be an artist to create lovely creations with this product (as is evidenced by my use of stencils!), and there’s no prep or clean-up to be done!

Mother’s Day 2012

May 13, 2012

“Motherhood is the most challenging job in the world” is cliche for a reason. And dealing with bodily fluids, effectively handling tantrums, and continuing to function despite severe sleep deprivation are only the beginning. At the moment, my biggest challenges with my three girls (11, 7, and 5) are handling power struggles, teaching (and dare I [...]

The Pedometer that Pays You

April 20, 2012

I recently had the opportunity to review a product that I’m pretty sure that you’re going to like:  a pedometer that REWARDS you for activity. In, for example, GIFT CARDS. Which, in my personal heirarchy of All Good Things, is only one step down from Lindt chocolate and toddler butterfly kisses. The S2H Step has [...]

My Maybe/Faux Heart Attack and Resulting Revelations

April 10, 2012

A few weeks back, Hubby and I were watching a movie called Blackthorne, which is director Mateo Gil’s take on Butch Cassidy’s later life.  It should be noted that hubby kindly puts up with my nostalgic pull toward Westerns.  If I had a therapist, I think she would say that I’m try to recreate that [...]
